28 day trial – review

by Nicci on March 29, 2010

So how did I do with my monetizing plan?

Did I make the amount I set as my intention:  Short answer – no.

Did I learn a lot from the experience:  Yes!

The main problem that I dealt with was lack of consistency.  I didn’t apply the method properly or indeed every day.   I got distracted and didn’t take as much action as I should have.  I got bogged down for a period feeling ill and run down.

However, I did have some successes.  After hitting a big emotional block and working through it, suddenly things started flowing more easily.  I had lots of clients and really enjoyed the sessions I did with them, also I was offered some part time work that I can do from home too.

I realised that I don’t have many channels open that I can receive money from either.  I don’t have any channels open where I can receive money without trading it for an hourly, weekly rate.  Creating books, auditory programmes, running teleclasses etc is one way of receiving income without it being tied to how many hours you put in.    That way you don’t get burned out, and although it means more initial effort up front, you can earn money from that initial effort many times over.

However, I’ve also realised I don’t find money that inspiring on its own!  I guess it doesn’t mean that much to me.  I’m much more interested in how I can help people be the best they can be.  But what I like about having money as a goal is that it is a definite measure of success.  How many people can I help that value the service enough to pay me for it?  Either I hit my goal, or I don’t.  If I don’t, I need to make some adjustments.  I have noticed that I still have some uncomfortable feelings around money, although they have reduced over the last month.

So what are my next steps?  Well I could either stop trying – or carry on.

What I’ve decided is that I’m going to do another 30 day trial, but this time blog my progress every day.  This might mean some short posts about the action I’ve taken, or some longer posts about what I’ve learned that day. Quite often, I go through a lesson, internalise it and either don’t share it, or forget that I ever felt differently before, so blogging as I go along will help me capture those learnings and also keep me focused on the daily action steps I need to take.  That’s the plan, anyway – I’ll let you know how it works out :)

I feel really motivated right now. I’m curious as to how this next month will unfold.
