How determined are you to create the self-confidence you want? How much determination do you have to push through set-backs to get what you want?
Determination is the key to creating self-confidence. Being determined means that you hold on to that quiet vision of your dream inside you and don’t let it go. It can be hard at times to hold on, especially if you face opposition from loved ones.
Speaking your truth to your friends and family can be tough. At times I’ve found it hard to articulate my thoughts or reasoning and yet held tight in my heart was a truth that was important to me and I couldn’t let go. It didn’t matter if I couldn’t say what I meant, so long as I could hold onto what I knew to be true for me.
Finding the determination within
The time I have faced having to find the most determination was having an ongoing illness that flared up violently and seemingly randomly for years. Doctor after doctor told me it was genetic and incurable and I would just have to accept it. While I agree I have the genetic indicators for the disease, what I couldn’t accept was that I had to suffer from it! Something had to be causing it to flare up, so that meant I could find out what that cause was, even if my doctor wasn’t interested. I sought every cure, every possible cause and have kept on determined to get well. And what I found is, that it isn’t random at all. It’s directly related to emotional stress and by doing a lot of very deep healing at an emotional and energetic level I now look and feel better than I ever have done for years.
Many times I felt defeated by it and felt like giving up on life. And yet, that small voice inside me insisted I keep going. By continuing to try ‘just one more thing’ I’ve found what I needed to.
When panic is overtaking you, it’s not as easy to access that quiet voice. Sitting quietly, doing several ‘vibe-raising’ big deep breaths into your belly is a great start. Then ask yourself what you need to know about a particularly issue. What is the truth about what you need to do? For example, if you are particularly nervous about giving a work presentation, as yourself what is it that you need to know about the situation? Allow the answer to come to you. For example, you might get the thought that you need to do more research in a particular area. Or you might get the thought that you are fully prepared, you just need to practise and give yourself a little push. If there are any nervous feelings there, allow yourself to sit with them, breath through them and see what useful information comes to mind. Can you find the determination to do what you need to?
Dealing with temptation.
When you make a decision to make a change in your life, then straight away you get tested. It’s as if the universe pushes against you to see if you really mean what you say you do. If you give up at the first hurdle, it’s like you weren’t really interested, your decision was just fluff.
A test can come in many forms. It might be a whole heap of ‘busy work’ that distracts you from your path. It might be opposition from friends and family that leads you to play it safe because of a fear of rejection. It might be your own internal thoughts and doubts that mean you don’t take an action step towards your goal. When you are tempted can you stay the course?
One thing I am facing right now is being tempted in the form of a bright shiny bright offer the kind that pulls you off your path because it looks like easy pickings. I’ve got a proposition to make money on the table that takes me away from my true path and purpose. In fact what’s spooky is that on my belief board a couple of months ago, I wrote an ambitious financial goal I wanted to achieve and this offer exactly matches it.
Let me be honest, the money is tempting me but the work is not a true reflection of who I really am. I wouldn’t be making people’s lives better by offering what are only my unique gifts or experiences. When I think about it, do I really want to sell my soul for a better car or paying off my mortgage?
When I ask myself quietly – ‘who do I want to become?’ I know what the true and honest answer is. Turning down a big earning opportunity is difficult. I don’t know what’s going to happen. What I do know is that I have to be true to myself. Am I going to indulge in scarcity thinking? Or am I going to be determined to stay true to the biggest and best version of myself that I can be?
Take the time to connect with your deep inner truth and ask yourself if you are determined to start the journey to self-confidence.

Nicci,
I was looking for a picture that personified “Determination” and stumbled onto your blog. I agree whole-hearedly. I’m glad your health has improved. I’m happier still for your sharing. I ran into your words by chance. (Notice I did not use the word coincidence)? They have given me support in my own quest. I know you will make the right choice for yourself. Good luck. And thanks!
Charles.

Thank you, it seems you want people to walk on their path of self actualization, I can’t agree with you more. I came across with some people who were vulnerable to any difficulties, shied away from all possible things, casted doubts on their life purpose. Of course they were under imbalance of soul. This is like a lesson – learnt very good for myself and my surrounding people.
Best wishes for you.
Thanks.
